Hey guys, new here. I have been running e85 in my mustang for 2 years and buying it from the pump,do to the blends varying, my car runs different of course. Since buying by the drum cost alot per gallon compared to pump price, can I buy the pump stuff and store it without any problems? I only use 5-10 gallons a week on the street.FYI ... I do not drain anything in winter and have had no problems on start up in spring.
Where is the best place in Indiana to but it by the drum? cost?
Thanks Ed

Good question- I will be interested in what the other guys are doing.
You can fill a drum at some retail pumps but be aware that some retailers might frown on it for safety reasons. Guys racing up here will either fill a drum in early September and use out of it until next June/July when full summer E85 is available or they will pick up a drum of E98 and mix for themselves. Just make sure you have a safe place away from moisture, potential sparks, and heat. Store drum on a couple of 2x4's (off the concrete) and keep the barrel sealed real well. Never keep the pump in the barrel because your enemy is air getting into and out of the drum. If you are parking the car over the winter it would also be a good idea to seal the fuel cell vent on it too just to be safe. Consider draining the carb and filling with gas for the winter.

I personally just go to the BP station in town before I go to the track and top off the car it hasn't ever been below 84% even in Oct. Last year I tested the fuel a lot this year not so much.
