New to the site. Just switched over to corn on my bb mopar. Does anyone know if adding Mystery Oil to E85 will effect the knock rating. I need to use some type of lubrication because the weldon pump brushes do not get the lubrication that is needed. They haven't come out yet with a fix on the 1100 series pump.

I would get a new pump. If they get serious with fuel tech you might not pass. Just my 2cnts

Would fuel tech care if you had a tiny amount (<1/2%) of castor oil or soy methyl ester (neat biodiesel)?

I think a tiny amount of either would be safe in E85 but for example on gasoline - over 1/2% diesel in gas can really bring on knock and even more will wet plugs.

Thanks for the info. E85 has a octane rating of 100-105 Specific Gravity .785. Does MMO effect the specific gravity of E85.

Without knowing the gravity of MMO, i can only guess that it would. It is likely in the light distillate range and if similar to #1 oil then it will not move it much- especially if you are only putting in trace amounts. I do not have the gravities of the following in hand at the moment but here is an example of gravities and it's effect on a full (by weight) load of fuel given fixed max license weight;
Natural gasoline 9000 gal
Gasoline 8500 gal
Ethanol 8000 gal
E85 8200 gal
#1 oil- approx 7500 gal
#2 diesel 7400 gal

Of course from the above one can see that variability in E85 will vary with % gas and type gas. AND- we can only guess what gravity is on MMO unless someone has the specs.

This is the data sheet as of June 4, 2009 SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 0.876 @ 60F (15.6C). so with the SG higher than e85 their should be no loss with 4oz per 10 gallons?

You are correct- at that low of inclusion the variability of the 15% gasoline component is FAR greater.
