All, with any advent of being able to race our class at neighboring tracks, discussion already has been on here about licensing and chassis certs, and that is GREAT, but dont forget the other rules that will be needed to adhere to.

Main reason I bring this up is to (hopefully) eliminate any grief during tech at certain facilities (some being much more strict than others) if we travel to other facilities. One new one for this year is the trans dipsticks. Some may know this one already and some may not. I am posting for the "may nots". They have changed the rule to it needs to be a positive locking type (approved by NHRA). I JUST bought a Lokar one last winter and they changed it this winter and I had to buy a new one again. (Got a real nice Lokar firewall mount dipstick for sale). Sucks, but I will admit the new one is very nice, but it makes me wonder why the old one was so expensive if this one is near the same price but much nicer. Anyway, off my rant, this would be a wise move to go ahead an update as it is a new rule and an easy tech'd one at that.

"2:14 TRANSMISSION, Automatic/NHRA-Accepted
All cars running 10.99 (*6.99) seconds and quicker must have an NHRA-accepted locking-type dipstick on the transmission."

Also, some of the parachute mount wording changed but now that they re-revised it, its not as big of deal to update, but most will probably have already covered it. Basically it refers to the bolt size and sleeve combo. It used to be worded ridiculous about the size of plate used, but they fixed that. Still states it in the online rulebook, but they have an amendment to it.

"4:8 PARACHUTES
Parachutes must have their own independent mounting with sleeved 3/8 minimum steel bolts or steel pins required for all applications. Shroud line(s) mounting brackets must be constructed of minimum .090-inch steel. Safety pins must red flagged and removed prior to burnout. The use of ball-lock pins for parachute mounting prohibited. See Class Requirements regarding use of two parachutes. Such applications require separate shroud-line mounting points for each parachute system."

All in all I am just trying to make sure we are all ready incase we do get some gigs....(fingers crossed) ....just trying to keep everyone informed....

EDIT: I was mistaken...I thought they changed the diaper rule to 9.99 and under after a year or so of it being class specific...

itis NOT mandated by time, but by class....

"1:8 LOWER ENGINE CONTAINMENT DEVICE
In classes where specified, must utilize an NHRA-accepted lower engine oil-retention device. SFI Spec 7.1 or 7.2 Lower Engine Containment Device permitted. A properly fitting lower engine ballistic/restraint device mandatory. The NHRA Technical staff can accept or reject any device. Any device that fails to perform as required must be replaced or repaired to the satisfaction of the Technical staff prior to any furthur runs"
